Inconel 718 Round Bar & Rod Supplier
As a professional nickel alloy supplier, we produce high quality Inconel 718 (UNS N07718) round bar & rod.
Inconel 718 is a precipitation strengthened alloy. After aging treatment, Inconel 718 round bar & rod has very high strength. It also has excellent high temperature corrosion resistance and is often used in engine internal parts.
The Inconel 718 round bar has a diameter of over 50mm and is processed by hot rolling. The diameter of Inconel 718 rod is less than 50mm, and the processing method is hot rolling + cold drawing. Depending on your needs, we can grind the material after aging for better surface and dimensional accuracy. We can also customize the tensile strength, heat treatment, and chemical composition requirements of the material for you, which sets us apart from many suppliers.
Chemical Composition of Inconel 718
*Chemical Composition According to ASTM B637
Suppliers shall perform chemical analysis of Inconel 718 material in accordance with ASTM B880 to ensure that the chemical composition of the product meets the requirements.

*Mechanical Properties According to ASTM B637
In ASTM B637, Inconel 718 round bar & rod is heat treated as follows:
Solution Treatment: 1700 to 1850°F (924 to 1010°C), hold 1/2 h min, cool at rate equivalent to air cool or faster.
Aging Treatment: 1325 ± 25°F (718 ± 14°C), hold at temperature for 8 h, furnace cool to 1150 ± 25°F (621 ± 14°C), hold until total precipitation heat treatment time has reached 18 h, air cool.
Please confirm this point with the manufacturer to ensure that the material achieves acceptable mechanical properties.
FAQ
Why is Inconel 718 so widely used?

This is due to its outstanding overall performance. The chromium and molybdenum content ensures the material’s corrosion resistance, while the nickel content enables high-temperature performance. Precipitation hardening further provides high strength, allowing Inconel 718 to withstand extreme operating conditions.
Does the round bar require polishing?

It depends on the specific application and your requirements. If the material will undergo further processing, we recommend using unpolished bar, which is more cost-effective. Cold-drawn bar has a bright surface finish upon production and does not require additional polishing. For products without specific instructions, we perform polishing by default.
Can you provide ground bars?

Yes. By default, the bright bars we supply are polished. If you have strict requirements for both dimensional tolerances and straightness, we can produce bright bars through grinding. Please note that ground bars will be priced higher.
Can the ends of the round bars be chamfered as required?

No problem. Under standard delivery conditions, we do not perform chamfering by default, as most customers handle this themselves during subsequent processing. However, to meet the individual needs of our customers, we are equipped with a full range of machining and chamfering equipment and are fully capable of chamfering both ends of round bars. Simply provide the specific chamfering parameters (such as angle, length, or drawing requirements), and we can incorporate the chamfering process during production to ensure the product is ready for immediate use upon arrival without the need for secondary processing.
How is the polishing process for round bars defined?

Polishing is a machining method that uses high-hardness grinding wheels or sanding belts to mechanically grind the surface of round bars. The purpose is to remove surface scale, fine scratches, or other defects, thereby achieving a brighter, smoother metal surface. In actual production, a layer of black scale typically remains on the surface of hot-rolled round bars, which must be removed through polishing to reveal a uniform metal substrate.
What role does grinding play in bar processing?

Grinding is a process that involves using abrasive tools with a higher hardness than the bar material to perform micro-cutting on the surface, thereby achieving a bright finish. When customers require high tolerance grades for the bars (such as H6, H7, or stricter), grinding is a key method for ensuring precision. Additionally, the grinding process typically requires the bar to rotate during machining, so the bar’s initial straightness directly affects the grinding results.
