FAQ
What is the role of cobalt in Inconel 617?

Cobalt primarily serves to strengthen Inconel 617 through solid solution strengthening. It not only increases the alloy’s strength but also maintains good ductility, while simultaneously helping to improve the alloy’s high-temperature performance.
What is the difference between "pipe" and "tube"?

There is no universally accepted definition distinguishing "pipe" from "tube". One interpretation is that "pipe" refers to tubing with a larger outer diameter, while "tube" refers to tubing with a smaller outer diameter. Another interpretation is that "pipe" follows the dimensional specifications in the Nominal Pipe Schedule, whereas "tube" is based on direct unit conversion. Therefore, when requesting a quote, please specify which type you require.
Do you apply plastic caps to the ends of the pipes?

By default, we use sturdy export wooden cases for packaging, which already provide adequate protection for the ends of seamless pipes. Therefore, we typically do not apply plastic pipe caps. However, if you have this requirement, please let us know in advance, and we will apply the caps free of charge.
Is eddy current testing a standard inspection procedure for pipes?

Unless you specifically request otherwise, we will perform non-destructive testing (NDT) in accordance with applicable standards. Some standards specify only one type of NDT method, so we may flexibly decide whether to perform eddy current testing based on the specific dimensions of the pipe. However, if you specifically require eddy current testing, we will carry it out according to your request.
How is pickling defined?

Pickling is a common surface treatment process that involves immersing seamless tubes in an acidic solution to dissolve scale, rust, and other impurities on the tube surface through the chemical action of the acid. Pickling not only gives the tube surface a uniform, matte finish but is also an essential preparatory step prior to cold rolling or cold drawing.
How should the polishing process for seamless pipes be understood?

Polishing is a process in which the surface of seamless pipes is ground to achieve a glossy appearance. The surface of polished seamless pipes is smoother and more aesthetically pleasing. If you have high requirements for the inner surface, we can also polish the inner walls. The processed pipes are called sanitary pipes and are commonly used in the food and medical industries.
